Crochet Hen Egg Basket

As a little girl growing up on the hills where there are big trees, green grasses, dusty roads, goats bleat and cowbells chime, I dreamed of becoming a stay-at-home-mom. Although life took me away from that peaceful land to a happening city that doesn't quite sleep, I continued to clung on to that dream. It's almost a month since I finally took the huge step of quitting my job at a corporate firm fulfilling the stay at home part. And I hope, so very sincerely hope of being a mom too, when God wills it.

Well now that I have all the time in the world, I picked up on what I love best, Crochet. Taking orders has its challenges like meeting the deadlines, making sure your items meet the customers' expectation blah blah blah. What I do love, however, about taking orders is the opportunity to try out different designs and patterns; and when you get that message from your customer about how happy he/she is with your product, you feel so accomplished. If you are a crocheter yourself, you can totally relate to this.

A week ago I got a customer contact me asking to make a Hen Egg Basket. Well I've never tried that and wanted to take up the challenge. After browsing for sometime I happened upon a pattern by Sara Huntington on Ravelry. So off I went trying my hands on it and here are what my trial piece came out as:

The written instruction wasn't very clear I must say. It didn't specify that the terms used were UK terms nor did it  explains how the base closure is done. I had to come up with my own method to close the base. Nevertheless I am a happy girl. It sure is a double delight to be complimented by the hubster.... :)

As for this basket, I am thinking I should do a giveaway....

Anywho, Thank you for stopping by.

Cheerio.
